I know if I’d just asked how snails got into my pond, people would say that they came off of plants I’d bought. Well, I don’t have plants in my pond. I’m wondering how I found a snail in there. I brought him in and he’s happily residing as my betta’s pet snail. Just wondering how he ended up in a pond nowhere near any other bodies of water. Also, do pond snails survive the winter?

My lily pond is a fiberglass insert. It is 8 ft. long, irregularly shaped, 18 inches deep and holds approximately 300 gallons of water. It is located within my atrium which is surrounded by four outside walls so the option of running a hose from the pond, down hill, is out of the question. Is there some device or equipment that I might use to empty this pond for the purpose of cleaning it. Until now I have had to empty it bucket by bucked and using a dry vac to get the last bit. Of course moving a dry vac with a tank full of water is quite difficult. Are there any suggestions? Please, and thanks.

I created a small pond in a shady corner of my property and have redirected the water from my neighbor’s sump pump into the pond. The area has a high water table so fresh water is added daily. There is no electricity available (no filter), but the pond has attracted a resident Green frog, the birds drink and bath there and the water is clear. Can it handle a couple of gold fish too?

I live in southern california and I am worried that the pond water is still too cold for my pond turtle. She is of good size so she isn’t tiny at all. We are moving her from an indoor tank to an outdoor pond. We have put in larger feeder fish to start the outdoor pond and they seem to be suriving and doing find. Should the turtle be okay in the same water since the fish require more heat than the turtle?

The pond is about 4 ft round, 2 feet deep and I have a fountain running. It has turned so green we can’t see the fish unless they come to the surface to eat.

I have a nice little fishing pond but the pond weed is so bad that I can’t even fish in it. What is the best way to get the pond weed out?

I am moving soon and would love to put in a pond under a small willow tree. This pond would be for newts and frogs. Should I have it in shade, in the sun or partway?

These railroad ties are 20 years old, but you can still smell the creosote. The pond water does not actually touch the ties, but rainwater will run off them into the pond. If I need to coat them with something to prevent this, what product would I use?
